Description: In 2008, expanded MAP testing began in Science. The grade-span tests are administered in Grades 5, 8, and 11. With the push to meet AYP in communication arts and math, many teachers have been forced to skimp on science instruction. Are you in need of resources to help prepare your students for the Science MAP tests? Attend this session to discover online science tools and resources that have been aligned with the MO GLEs. Use these resources to create a Moodle-based virtual science classroom that incorporates online, interactive, and engaging resources.

Description: In this beginning-level class we will demonstrate how our small school district has implemented and expanded our handheld computer program with a very limited budget. We will discuss our student training procedures and provide teaching strategies using handheld computers and freeware. We will also cover how we teach some of the state GLEs on handhelds using freeware. Sample Jr. High level lessons will be provided.

2C: What's New in SMART Notebook Version 10?

You will leave with resources on how to set up a geocaching adventure to teach traditionally difficult concepts on any subject while fostering 21st Century skills. Come learn the advanced features of the SMART Board and how to create lessons that you can use over and over. Learn how to create recordings of what you do on the SMART Board for playback and find out how to use the video player that comes with your SMART Board to annotate videos. Learn how to attach audio files to objects on the SMART Board, how to save items that you use often to the My Content folder and share with others. Find hundreds of lessons that have already been created for use on the SMART Board and learn how to create your own usable lesson, either from scratch or by tweaking a downloaded lesson. In addition, you will be introduced to Senteo, the SMART Board “clicker system.”

Description: I have implemented a Daily Challenge system into my class to use with my Classroom Response system. In the beginning I was struggling with moving beyond assessments and using the sytem to encourage retention of information. This system allows teachers with student response systems to create daily challenge questions - based on the day's subject matter and then after giving time for group based or individual instruction - use the student response systems to assess. This is done in a fun and lively competition format and takes the place of "old school journaling"
