Antioch Middle School: Peer Mediation Keeps the Peace
For ten years, Antioch Middle School has been successfully practicing a peer mediation program aimed at reducing the number of students involved in disputes, while simultaneously improving students'' problem-solving skills.

Nixa Middle School: Extreme TEAM
Extreme Team (Teens Enjoying Activities with Mentors) is an extra-curricular program for at-risk students and designed to encourage a positive relationship between students and teachers, thus motivating students to have academic/social success and to enjoy their school experience.

Central Accelerated School: Central Live-News 6
Practical experience that makes English, writing, and other skills real and valuable are the results of this program which has students write, report, and record local news stories for the community. The students perform all of the jobs. They prepare the stories, direct the program, run the cameras, make camera transitions, control the teleprompter from which students read their stories, and type the credits. The teachers stand as ‘guides on the side.

Character Council
Character Council is a class during third hour each day that consists of sixty 7th and 8th grade students. These Character Council students are responsible for planning and implementing the majority of the school’s activities, as well as teaching the weekly character education lessons to the entire student body. The students in this class come from a variety of backgrounds, but all share the same belief in the importance of Character Education.

Handhelds in the Classroom
Warrensburg Middle School’s innovative project involved 7th and 8th grade students utilizing handheld computers in their daily learning activities. Each student was assigned a handheld computer, a wireless keyboard, and a carrying case in addition to a variety of educational software.
