Charter School Leadership Academy
State of Missouri statute requires the mentoring of new leaders and that an Academy be provided for their support and development. Through this academy, Charter School leaders will receive mentoring and support to positively impact student performance through school improvement practices. School improvement mandates standards are redefining the school administrator’s role. Missouri charter school leaders and administrators must have continuous support opportunities in order to develop and hone skills for instructional leadership.
Regional Academy meetingswill satisfy state certification requirements for transition administrator certification “The development, implementation and completion of a professional development plan of at least 120 contact hours of professional development based on Interstate School Leaders Standards.” University credit can be obtained for some participants who are interested.
This program will provide cutting edge thinking on key educational issues pertinent to charter schools, practical application on the use of data, research-based strategies and a focus on specific leadership behaviors that contribute to improved student learning. Regional meetings will focus on student learning, poverty issues, teacher assessment, establishing high expectations for students and teachers, developing a positive school culture, curricular mapping, instructional issues, APR, Title 1 & 2 and all other Federal Funding.
The program includes nine days of high quality professional development for school leaders. Meetings will be held in locations which optimize learning and minimize travel expense. Those who choose to attend will join a vast network of learning leaders who will continue these special relationships well beyond the year long program.
